I first published at my elementary school library.  I called myself a writer from then on, scribing short stories and dabbling in poetry, play writing, and even songwriting.  However, I had not pursued a career as a writer as an adult, especially with the world becoming more intertwined with the interwebs and less with physical books.  I felt suddenly as if the competition between myself and other writers now included the entire world of blogs, twits, facebook blogs, and vloggers.  Instead of focusing on everyone else, I have decided to simply do what I love and write.  If no one ever buys my work, if I never publish, I can look back and say that I lived and wrote.
